The Journées d'Informatique Musicale is an annual meeting of
researchers in computer music and of musicians who use the computer as
a means of expression or as a tool for composition. JIM 2000 is
organized by the SCRIME,
in collaboration with the LaBRI and the ENSERB.
JIM 2000 calls for articles, posters and demonstrations concerning all
domains of computer music.
- Formalization and representation of musical structures
- Formalization and modeling of musical knowledge
- Environments and languages for musical composition
- Automatic composition and arrangement systems
- Tools for musical analysis
- Musical editing and publishing systems
- Optical score recognition software
- Musical performance modeling and simulation
- Software and hardware interfaces for musical performance
- Sound synthesis systems and environments
- Musical instrument modeling
- Signal analysis and processing systems
- Sound spatialization and acoustic modeling
- Software and hardware systems for interactive music
- Automatic recognition and extraction of musical parameters
- Musical perception modeling and simulation
- Normalization, archival and transmission of musical information
- Real-time systems and protocols for computer music
- Reports from musical research centers
JIM 2000 also calls for articles about philosophy and history that
are explicitly related to computer music.
This year, the following theme
Linux: a computer music platform

will be developed during a special session.
JIM 2000 invites psychoacousticians during
a special session about psychoacoustic experimentation concerning
musical perception.
An International Competition of
Acousmatic Music is organized by the SCRIME. The award
concert will take place during JIM 2000.
This year, there is no call for musical pieces. Instead, a place will
be arranged for listening and video. Everyone interested will have
the opportunity to present something there during the JIM. Please,
contact us if you want to.
Submissions must be sent by email in PostScript format to hanna@labri.u-bordeaux.fr,
or by regular mail in format A4 to Myriam
Desainte-Catherine. Submissions must include keywords and
abstract and consist of no more than 10 pages. Accepted languages are
French and English. Final versions
must not have page numbering.
The SFIM offers a 2 500 FF prize for
the best article presented by a 30 years old (or less) researcher. The
winner(s) will be selected by the conference participants.

- Notification of acceptance: March 15, 2000 (extended to April 3, 2000)
- Final version: April 15, 2000 (extended to April 24, 2000)
